Gemeinde means “community” in an institutional sense. It is, understanding society through conscience. Using architecture and the built environment, we try to pursue justice for the individual, the community, and their surroundings. We try that both, the final product and the process, become factors of change. As minuscule as it may be, we believe that conscious work is the origin of transformation. We see the world as a complex system of beings and factors, and we try to understand this whole as holistically as possible in order to achieve equilibrium in the resulting project. Architecture must be accessible and sustainable; just and diverse.
The Studio works with projects of every scale: furniture design, houses and housing, public buildings, and urban design. We work hand in hand in the material selection and the construction processes to attain subtlety and precision in the details and finishes.
Úrsulo Juárez Peniche graduated from the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City with a Bachelor Degree in Architecture. He based the studio in July of 2016 with the commission of a house renovation project. Six months later he establishes the office with the commission of further projects like VICENTE SUAREZ 123 and CASA CGP. In 2018, he continued his education with the Master of Arts: City Design by the Royal College of Art in London, after which he worked at other offices such as Cobe Architects in Denmark, and Kadawittfeldarchitektur in Germany. Today, he retakes Gemeinde to continue exploring the power of architecture with projects in Mexico and Denmark.
